After finding out it was a resounding success across the board, they went right to work on more heads, hands, accessories, etc. Each release testing the waters, to see if the following was still there. And, calling each one an Ultimate, to not only keep pace with past releases, but to ensure that people picked it up. It would be kind of weird to release a "basic" figure after an "Ultimate", yeah? This is just my theory, and I could be and probably am wrong.
I wished they would just call them Deluxe figures or something.
To someone else's comment about them being scene specific Ultimate figures, I just don't get why call any of them Ultimate. Just say Wellhouse Pennywise or add in Deluxe if you must. It's not like there's a not-Ultimate NECA figure to compete with or any other company besides Mafex.
I guess the few figures I've bought have been Terminator Deluxes and the Pacific Rim Gypsy Danger that had like all of the accessories so I was more accustomed to that.
edit. I saw on Twitter that NECA said this is the grand finale of the first movie, so no other variants.
