I loved the Inhumans subplot that was going on throughout the second half of the book, though I do have to admit that it sometimes to disrupt the pacing a little. Also, why didn't the FF just ask Silver Surfer to remove the barrier with his cosmic powers? I'm sure he would have if they had asked him nicely. Nevertheles, that really made the book stand out to me as I'm not sure how many stories back then where doing something like that at the time. I know none of the DC books I have read have done so nor did Spider-Man.

Reading the Galactus trilogy with full context of everything that lead up to it was a real treat because it really felt epic in scale. I will admit, it was hard to feel like anything could top it, and while nothing did, everything that followed was still incredible. The story about the dude who switches places with the Thing was interesting, which was of course then followed by the introduction of Black Panther. Getting to finally read his first appearace was just as great as the rest of the book, especially since I had no idea Klaw originally started out as some poacher. Until the movies, I always knew him as the sound vibration robot man thing. It elevanted my enjoyment of the character in the MCU.

The remaining stories were all good, though, I felt like Johnny was out of character at times. It also got weird how the Lockjaw teleportation bit worked and having all of that be for nothing since Blackbolt freed everyone from the dome seemed a bit anti-climatic. Hell, if he was able to do that, why didn't he do that in the first place? Anyway, I enjoyed the Doom Surfer story a lot more this time around than I did last time. There are still some parts that don't work for me, but overall, it was a solid arc. I hope when Hasbro does a new proper Doctor Doom, they pack him with the surf board they gave Surfer. :-)

I'm probably going to hold off until the summer time to start Volume 3 since Amazing Spider-Man 4 comes out in a few weeks and I hope to get the JMS Omnibus for my birthday.
To fuel this off-topic post, I’ll respond. Check out Marvel Unlimited if you’re so into back issues. I’ve been using it for about a year, and it has pretty much all of the classic silver age stuff. That said, I know that some people hate the digital aspect of it, because they prefer paper. It’s a lot cheaper than buying a whole lot of omnibi, although the omnibi are cooler. But regardless, great comics. My personal favorite from the Kirby-Lee Fantastic Four was sixty-seven, the first Adam Warlock.
