Personally I would be for the Masters of the Universe toy line returning to Retail stores, and I agree that they would need a TV series or movie to get this line back into retail.
I loved the 2002 series, and I would be up for another take on a new cartoon, and hopefully it would be on another channel besides Cartoon Network. Cartoon Network has a habit of canceling the good shows like He-Man, Megas XLR, Transformers Animated, etc. for the lowbrow shows like ed, edd n eddy, flapjack, etc.
And if they were to get Masters of the Universe back into the Retail stores hopefully they won't make the mistake they did with the 2002 toy line and flood the shelves with only two characters. I remember going to the toy aisles and finding nothing on the pegs except for He-Man and Skeletor.

It took the original, remained more-than-reasonably faithful to the designs and themes...and then improved on the original in virtually every way. Deeper, more clearly laid out mythology, excellent character designs still readily recognizable as "who they were supposed to be", better action, better animation, etc...
But sadly, it didn't gain much traction with kids, and because of that Cartoon Network started screwing with the scheduling until they basically scheduled it out of existence (they did the same thing with JLU). Why didn't it catch on? Well, possibly because kids had no attachment to begin with, so a large part of what made the 200X series so "cool" to us was utterly lost on the kids.
I 100% agree...
