I can’t go into Walmart and pick up a Dragon figure. In the 80’s, I had several 1/6 scale soldier figures that were bought at a retail store.
Kids can’t take military toys out in public, or snowflakes complain and parents are asked to leave. Kids get kicked out of school for making finger guns. The military is taboo in today’s world.
I'm talking about 1/6 scale MILITARY LINES, not superhero or any other genre lines. People say there is no interest in a 1/12 military(GI Joe) and I was pointing out that's not completely true, based on 1/6 companies NOW getting into 1/12 scale military figures. Small companies or not, interest in military figures has been steady, there are at least 5 pre-orders going out monthly for new figures and now companies are exploring the 1/12 scale...because interest is there, big or small it's there.
The only 1/6 soldiers are retail were Hasbro, Ultimate Soldier, and generic store brands. You could never get Dragon figures at regular retail. Fortnite figures, that are pretty popular with kids and parents, comes with plenty of guns.
And as far as the military being 'taboo in today's world' that's complete crap. As a veteran, who comes from a family of veterans and active duty personnel, we hear quite a lot of "Thank You For Your Service".
