Too soap opera-ish for me (which crept into all the other Marvel books in the 90's and killed my enjoyment of the books). The movie was the first time I actually like them. Sadly, Doom was a joke and the 2nd & reboot movie were worse.
I haven't read a comic book since 2001, so I'm done with that chapter of my life. Not a brag or anything, I just tried to read a comic book one day in 2001 and couldn't make it through. Now, I see graphic novel collections at stores, I'll flip through them for a glimpse of the art, or read IGN reviews, but otherwise I've been out of the loop other than the various comic book films. I'll give FF another try when they show up in the MCU.
Fair enough. If it isn't your thing, then it's really that simple.
If the film medium changes your opinion, then revisit the books if you're so inclined. Should that happen, check out the luminaries: Kirby, DeFalco/Perez, Byrne, etc.
The FF, for me, is about family, super-science, and some of the most enigmatic villains to ever grace Marvel's pantheon. Some pretty stellar heroes have also sprung from the pages: Panther, Surfer, the Inhumans, Him (aka Adam Warlock) and so on...
Enjoy if you want.
