I *would* rebuy original figures in a heartbeat and would go nuts for the Cave Turtles or the Dino Turtles (the latter I never saw in the wild).
I totally agree with the Super7. For me, they look TOO much like the 1987 toys (which IMHO are the worst of TMNT product, bearing little resemblance to the cartoon or comics) and their $50ea price is just crazy. Totally not saying they shouldn't be made, nor am I saying anyone is wrong for getting them. It's all good. I had no problem finding the NECA sets at Target, but I understand it's hard for some people to find.
I'm surprised Playmates is trying to push these again. While the sculpts were ok, I wasn't a fan of the original plastic used. I had Donatello back in 2012, and he developed cracks in the elbows and knees at the pins and was chucked once I got the SDCC NECA box set. Hopefully these are improved over their 2012 versions. If Playmates committed to this line, I could see people collecting these, as they could be sold at all locations. While not perfect, these could definitely meet the needs of many collectors. They'd scale well with McFarlane DC.
Side note... I had no recollection of the Dino TMNT, so I had to look it up. I don't think I ever saw those. I laughed out loud and the other people on the train were looking at me like I was nuts. Thanks.
