Maybe I'll get one of these...hmmm. The brighter color scheme of the originals isn't there. Kinda disappointed but maybe it's just not for me all around.
The larger scale is conflicting for me. The oversized 1:12 scale feels more like 1:6 scale. I don't feel like collecting everything because it's too big. Smaller 1:12 scale side figures, like the originals, make me want then all. The big scale makes me want maybe one or two figures to display like they are "2UP's". I felt the same way about the Madballs. Only ended up ordering one. Maybe I'll get a few more over the next couple waves. But not everything.
When they talked about Battletoads with the Mega Guys, they said some BOSS FIGURES could be 12-14 inches. Holy balls. That is like a normal 1/6 scale figure. I know that big is cool, in a way. But it's feels like they are going WAY TOO BIG.
It makes more sense to me now when I consider what they said about pushing the innovations of action figure articulation. The figures are huge, it's much easier to engineer and articulation at that size.
I'm not knocking them. The toys look really good for what they are. But if they are generally going down this huge "1/12" scale road, and going with this realistic statue paint job style...I sadly know I won't be collecting much. If they went with a scale slightly larger than the originals I'd be in. They would be cheaper, smaller, and more collectible in the masses.
Less space, less money, more figures.
