The price is a lot. There's no getting around it. But having watched the Pixel Dan interview, combined with all the information we've gotten over the years from Hasbro Q&As on their own lines, I get why. I highly recommend watching the video for some good insider info on the manufacturing process.

In short, it can't really be compared to any of the other crowd-sourced items because the numbers on it are expected to be pretty low. I'll bet they're only expecting about 2k-3k units. The Razor Crest needed 6000 to fund - yeah, it sold a ton more than that, but Thundercats aint Star Wars. He mentions in the video that their tooling costs are around $450k, which means they need to sell a 1000 units just to cover tooling, let alone the cost of actually making the thing, putting it together, paint aps, etc.
