My interest in MCU figs ranges somewhere between nil and, at best, tepid, but I'll still weigh in and offer caution regarding so easily excusing bad behavior on the part of a manufacturer. As Triv said, this smacks of a deliberate tactic at this point and, as has also been said here, it behooves the collecting crowd to exercise some restraint in rushing out to buy figs that will likely receive Hasbro's 1.5 and 2.0 treatment.

This isn't a one way circuit; collectors actually have the ability to influence the industry via sales. I know collectors take some measure of pride in the notion that we're 'in the know', but it seems counterproductive to make excuses for manufacturers abdicating what little power we might have in influencing change. There are so many Legends koolaid drinkers (not necessarily you) that Hasbro barely needs a PR team at this juncture.
