The shows were initially intended to be part of the same shared universe, hence Jaimie Alexander (Sif) appearing on Agents of SHIELD, however Marvel Studios got cagey and stopped communicating with Marvel TV about the collaborative efforts. There are a couple interviews with Chloe Bennett(Skye/Daisy/Quake) about how the "shared" universe was (not) handled
