The Snyder Cut is all of the footage Zack Snyder shot before he stepped down in 2017, plus additional footage shot in 2020. The additional footage shot last year is believed to help complete the story Zack was telling across Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and his version of Justice League. The Snyder Cut is said to be over 4 hours long.

After Zack Snyder stepped down in 2017, Joss Whedon was brought in to rewrite and reshoot a significant portion of the film. Very little of Zack Snyder's footage was used for the 2017 theatrical release. However, Whedon did base many of his shots on Snyder's work so part of the Snyder Cut will look similar to the theatrical cut.
