I'm thinking more of people who are now going to have to work this event who are going to have to give up a big family holiday after having likely skipped out on it last year. For people working, the event doesn't begin Friday, it starts days before. I don't imagine many of those working can afford to fly to SD, set up, fly home for Thanksgiving, then fly back for the show. All during the busiest week of travel of the year.
I think the point is not having people doing the flying in and out. SDCC is so movie/tv oriented and San Diego is a couple hours drive from LA. I don't really foresee all the toy companies from all over the US bothering to set something up for this limited one when they can just as easily do it online and have the same press coverage that they'd normally get. I can see Sideshow and Super7 doing something in person maybe. Sideshow usually has a giant booth though so I don't know if they'd bother with that so much.
I mean it's a limited event, so people SHOULD be skipping it. If attendance is 25%, the "show" shouldn't still be at 100% of the normal stuff. If the show is at 50% I'd be surprised.
