The Marvel Select Silver Centurion finally arrived! Of all his classic suits this design has always remained my favorite so I'm ecstatic that it's received such a great 7" scale figure.
First thing that really stands out here compared to typical Marvel Select offerings is the accessory count which offers a lot of options on display. You've got 3 heads including the '80s mullet Tony (which came out better than solicited), obviously the main helmet, and even the foldout scanner version which I think was only ever in #203. It also includes pulse bolt blast hands, repulsor effect hands, jet flames for his feet, the chest blast which can swap with the standard reactor plate, and 3 pairs of normal hands. It also includes a flight stand which is way too flimsy to hold him up as he is quite hefty and solid but a NECA stand was ale to lift him without problem.
The figure itself is the obvious main draw here and it looks very snazzy. The sculpt is dead-on to the comics with the large flared shoulders, the backpack, and the other details like on the gauntlets and boots but true to the source material it also isn't the most insanely intricate design. So the paint is really what helps this figure pop. The silver used is metallic but in a less shiny fashion. It's not dull and it has this glittery/powdery quality to give it some texture, but it doesn't have that polished chrome-like quality which is sometimes used for silver which actually works with the red used. This is a slick, shiny metallic red which definitely stands out against the silver. Making both colors this shiny might have been garish and when you have to pick one of the two to be shiny I'm certainly happier with the red being it. Articulation is actually pretty good overall and the shoulder pads can swivel for clearance but the elbows and knees are limited to single hinges. I don't have an outstanding complaint with that though since it's a Select figure so I was never expecting it to match its Hasbro counterpart in movement.
TLDR; I think this is an excellent offering from Diamond and may be one of the best Select figures period. He also pairs really well with their recent Hulk and I hope they continue this trend of really upping their quality with these Marvel figures.
