The vintage figures have a charm that is missing here. I am by no means saying the new figures need to employ the same gimmicks as the vintage figures OR need to be slaves to the vintage design. But going "dark and gritty" is low hanging fruit. This looks like McFarlane Toys redesigned Robo Force. I was expecting, and hoping, for more.
I completely agree- they took away the best aspects of the original line, and made a more generic looking late 1990s-ish robot figure. I do not like the cartoonish, stylized head, either. It seems odd that they'd bother getting the Robo Force property, if they were going to do something so different from the originals that even fans of the classic toy line probably wouldn't know they were connected, without the "Robo Force" logo.
