Don't forget in the early 2000s all of a sudden anime was getting censored like hell like Cartoon Network's Disco light guns and editing out deaths even on their Midnight Run stuff. All during Republican leadership of the country.

The Right is more "don't censor guns IRL" but don't really want them in kid's media.
