In general with these line relaunches we've had in the last few years (G.I. Joe with Classified, Transformers with Siege/WFC figures, and He-Man with Masterverse and Origins), the toymakers have learned that while there might be fans of the new media, it's the fans of the original properties that tend to buy the actual merchandise (this is even true for Star Wars). It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Masterverse veer back toward the 80s looks to more strongly appeal to the people who are actually buying most of the collectible figures.
I already have an extensive MOTUC collection so I'd almost prefer Mattel to not take Masterverse in that direction and tempt me to buy everyone again. But I would have a hard time passing up a Filmation-looking Evil-Lyn, the upcoming New Eternia She-Ra, or a Classic Sorceress.
I was actually pleased that the Revelations Skeletor, He-Man, and Man-at-Arms looked so bad (again, small head syndrome and bizarre Skeletor head sculpt) but the New Eternia Skeletor has brought me back in.
