Like, I'm sure if every few months there was a high profile news story about someone killing a bunch of people in a church, a school, a supermarket or some other public place with a crowbar or a sword, followed by a bunch of debate about crowbar and sword regulation (that inevitably leads to nothing and the whole cycle starting over again in a few months or weeks), those would be the banned items instead.
Like I said, it's stupid and I'm in no way defending WB, but I'm not sure why people keep trying to bring up other weapons being okay.
I don't think it's stupid or an overreaction. If Hasbro released a Jedi figure without a lightsaber, you'd raise an eyebrow. These accessories are honestly important to the identity of the characters.
I can't follow prohibiting firearms while have no issue with character who engage in extreme forms of violence. With Green Lantern you can put forth a shield or rescue accessories. Superman might throw a few punches but he's not a violent character.
Batman puts people in traction. Joker is a mass murderer. Red Hood really likes his guns.
At the heart we don't see what problem the WB is trying to solve. Not selling figures with firearms isn't curb gun violence. At purchases aimed at adults, it makes little sense why say Peacemaker Hot Toys figure has a gun ban.
I am paying for a product and I would like the gun wielding characters to have guns. This isn't an artist trying to express these characters as characters of peace or trying non violent methods to commit crime.
"Hey kids and adults, guns aren't cool. They cause serious harm in the real world. Now here's a sword, machete, crowbar and good old fashioned armored knuckles to beat someone to death".

That's one way to kill your company or burn a bridge at least. The WB would strip him of the toy license at that point. Or you know......use characters that don't use guns. Or make up for the lack of those accessories with hands.
