Oh, yes, I understand Hasbro well at this point and, truthfully, 'close enough' is better than 'not at all' with certain deep, deep dives.

As for the new Apocalypse figure, the deco doesn't bother me since my first introduction to the character was on the cartoon. That said, I'm more interested in seeing the Marvel Select Apocalypse. With it being a Marvel Select, it'll probably be bigger than the Legends version but will cost ~$30.
Mystery solved. I haven't played the game as I own an Xbox One X making recognition an impossibility for me. However, its insertion in the 'animated' line makes the Legend subset yet one more pot-luck of loosely assembled releases that break Hasbro's own established categorical designations. It also reaffirms Gizmo's suggestion that it was a castoff Gamerverse fig inserted anywhere as an afterthought.
As far as the peculiarities of the 'pink/mauve' Apocalypse is concerned, shockingly, I didn't order. I'll wait for the color edit and potential insertion into a boxset as redfox suggested. Although I did watch it, I have zero attachment to the animated show and the line has fallen completely flat with me. My principal investmet has always been the characters as they appear in the books, or 'close enough'.
Storm is the only animated version that tempts me and that is due to the head sculpt. However, I'm still debating whether the head alone is worth 28+ bones.
