Boil water in a kettle. Pour the water into a coffee mug then soak the figure upside down in the mug for exactly one minute. Any less and the plastic does not open up enough. Any longer does nothing extra.

I've done this hundreds of time. Your figure will be fine. It this doesn't work then your figure is fucked.
