I finally got the station survival MacReady from NECA. I have no idea why but none of my stores have ever gotten this one in while the first release has been pretty common on shelves, anyway Dorkside finally got him in stock (I know some other online stores have had him for a bit now but Dorkside was my notably cheaper option). Distribution griefs aside I'm largely happy with the figure beyond one notable complaint. As soon as I finished sliding the flamethrower tanks on one of the straps broke off at the lower connection, I was able to reattach it with superglue but that doesn't excuse that it should have been better made or thought out. He does include an alternate head with a calm expression and his hood pulled up but they didn't include the goggles that go with that look so I never even bothered switching heads. The accessories from the iconic blood test scene are nicely done but the figure itself doesn't have the dynamite strapped to his torso like he did by that part of the movie so personally I feel wrong leaving him displayed with those pieces. Really the standout scene this figure can properly represent is the defibrillation/Norris monster scene which is also an iconic moment but does make me wish he also came with the spider-head monster (they're probably saving that for releases of the creature itself). Overall as a general figure of MacReady I'm glad I skipped the first release and waited for this one, even though I had to repair mine I wouldn't be satisfied with a flamethrower-less MacReady.
