Some are better than others. The Grandview location is by far the most organized, the downside to that is it has the least to offer in terms of figures and statues. It has a great selection of movies and CDs because that is where I got my copies of Gone Baby Gone, Memento, and Saint Asonia's debut album. I've been shopping at those stores roughly my entire life the Metcalf location is the one I've been to the most and I worked there when I was in high school so I know, so I may have a soft spot for the chain. I will say Vintage Stock is more organized than Retro Zone located in the Oak Park Mall if you've ever been there.
As for the pricing, I hear you they can be a bit overpriced. Storm Shadow and the Cobra Officer were 27.99 as opposed to 19.99. It's a bit of a rip, but since I currently work at a restaurant I tend to overlook it because I use my tip money to pay for my collecting hobbies. If you've ever heard of PKTC Collectibles near the trolly trail, they're a similar business to VS and I had a conversation with Dione Woods the co-owner of the business about Vintage Stock and he commented on how greedy the business can be. It is what it is.
