Are you sure about that? Because my stores have had the same figures collecting dust on them all year long. My Target still has the unmasked Shriek (who the hell wanted him unmasked in the first place??), movie Harleys, Peacemaker with no guns or mask, etc.
The figures you mention are both old and irrevelavant (Harly Quinn came out after the movie had come and gone and was probably produced at factory level before he knew the movie was going to be unprofitable). Every toy manufacturer has toys/figures in lines that don't sell well and remain on the shelves for multiple reasons. Mcfarlane unlike other companies can instantly recognize what sells well (for his company) and order another run becuase he answers only to himself and has long standing with the factories he uses. Case in point collect and connect king shark. The 1st runs of that set sold really well. I'm guessing Also did the 2nd. The 3rd and possibly fourth run maybe not so well as the series had already reached the climax of its sales at retail and online. But before that happened Todd decided to make the 5 pack. Also making the king shark a seperate mega fig. Also this was one of his 1rst collect build figures, 2nd I believe, as the batmobile is not a figure but a car. He was figuring out what formats would sell. So yes there are alot of figures that he may have over produced and are readily available at multiple retailers still. But by the same tolken there are alot of figures I can't find at retail and have not found at retail when going multiple chain stores to find them. So I resort to buying them online.
Also I'm curious which company you know of that is infalable and has a perfect sell through rate?
I already know the answer..it doesn't exist.
Sales in general for any company is most times a crap shoot, just becuase you try to produce a product you know to be favorable to the consumer and the company, does not mean consumer/retail reaction will be favorable.
