Yeah, it only makes sense if they did what you claim and didn’t do too much homework. I get them occasionally being confused about inking/coloring, but I would hope the production team has a liaison at Marvel to run simple questions by. This could have been cleared up with an email – “that’s a technique in coloring and inking, but the highlights on Tarantula's costume should either be…” Companies that are in business with each other generally tend to communicate with one another, but that doesn’t appear to be happening here.
They did the same thing with the new Power Man. I’ll cut them some slack on that because there seemed to be some confusion with the original colorist in that Cage initially had black pants/tights and a black boots with yellow cuffs. However, as discussed, Hasbro made a Tarantula in 2008 with a solid black cowl making this gaffe perplexing.
