The details are the problem; the base armors in both movies were pulled from the same molds but they were accessorized in different ways, and those differences are permanently tooled into the suits so that they can't be used for each other. They could and should have about 80% identical tooling between Clooney/Kilmer Panthers and Sonar/Ice suits, and instead it's like 30%. And it wouldn't have added any extra money now to save themselves money in the future: the buckles could have been attached to the already separate belts, Clooney's chest logo could have been attached to the cowl so Kilmer's could be plugged in later, etc..

They simplified the gloves enough that all three are sporting the same hands (farewell, '89 palm studs) but then give K&C differently detailed lower arm sculpts to represent... the exact same gloves.

I guess I'm just fiending hard enough for Burton/Schumacher stuff from McF that I'm worried about inefficiencies like this potentially hurting profitability of those waves. It's money that could be going to actor likenesses or something.
