Stuff from over this week. At Walmart I found the Gold Label Hal Jordan and NECA's ultimate Tatsu, my pre-order for the Amazon Nightwing vs Court of Owls pack finally came in, and then BBTS got me the classified Storm Shadow v2.
I never looked at this Hal too much when it was initially revealed because the whole Walmart exclusive factor meant I might never find one, but I knew I'd get one if I found it because this metallic green looks great. I also never noticed until after I opened it that the head and hands are different than the Dawnbreaker two pack version, although the accessories are the same.
NECA rounds out the movie Foot clan with this absolutely excellent figure of Tatsu and for a character who never actually used any weapons, or really held much of anything, they managed to pack him with an "ultimate" amount of accessories. I like the touch every accessory has though since with only a little bit of digging I found that they are all relevant even if they aren't screen accurate to the movies. Toshishiro Obata was a swordsman in real life hence the included katana and practice sword, the fan is sourced from a trading card for the movie, and the hannya is taken from the 2012 cartoon version of the character. An excellent offering from NECA in all categories with this figure.
The individual Talon in the Multiverse line has the better color scheme but this one still looks cool too. I'm pretty sure this is actually the first figure of a member of the Court of Owls, which makes sense since they are all just rich snobs but it is also pretty cool to actually be able to have one represented in a display beyond just the mask. The actual bird owl included is pretty nice but can be tricky to balance on a figure's arm. This is the first McFarlane Nightwing that I really wanted. The original version's arms always seemed dinky to me, the Gotham Knights game design didn't work for me, and then the Titans themed wave one hit just about all the right notes except for its total lack of accessories combined with only having closed fists so I couldn't even arm him if I wanted to. I also do like his New-52 suit so this figure gets nothing but praise from me.
Lastly then, Storm Shadow v2. I have always liked his second design more than his first (I even like him being an archer more than just being another of many sword-wielding ninja) so this was a definitely the classified version I was waiting for and overall I am quite happy but not without one complaint. The hips are so covered with overlay pieces that they get easily crowded and limited in range. Other than that though, he looks great, has a nice arsenal of weapons, and handles well. I suppose a separate arrow would have been nice but personally I don't weep for its absence either. I'm not a huge GI Joe fan so I think I could say that this line has now produced every figure I was hoping to get.
