Definitely looks 3 3/4" to me. It is NOT the same as last year's SDCC exclusive Spider-Man. That one looked like the outfit from the original trilogy.

I hated the costume at first, too, but I've grown quite fond of it. I actually think it looks really cool. And I appreciate how lean the contour is.

Probably in the minority, but at least you're not alone. I'm right there with you. I've grown to really like the costume, a lot. And I wasn't excited at all about this reboot, nor do I think that it's necessary, but I'm definitely gonna check it out.
