Hey guys. I mentioned that I would attempt this a while back and finally got around to doing it a few weeks ago but here's some pics.
Super easy mod. I just took an ultra bright pink LED and replaced the not so bright orange LED. It lights up the entire head even in daylight and looks more comic book accurate.
Lights Off
Lights On!
I like it a lot better than the orange LED they used which I think looks okay on the Dark Galactus, but it doesn't really suit this one. I may swap that one out with an ultra bright orange LED, though.
To do this, just pop off the Galactus head, it literally just pops off if you pull it toward his chest with a bit of strength. Then unscrew the screws on the back plate, remove it. Inside you'll find the circuitboard with the LED soldered onto it, just use a soldering iron and desolder the LED and solder on the new one and that's it.
If you can't find a pink LED locally, just send me the cost of a postage stamp and 25 cents and I'll mail one out to you. They sell them in packs of 4 LEDs with 4 resistors at electronic stores here for a buck. You can probably find them at your local Radioshack or the Source by Circuit City. Make sure it's got a high MCD.
