Marvel Universe
Best
- Cable with Baby- For the first time, an MU with a great sculpt and *gasp* accessories! Too bad the bonus accessory (Hope) isn't included with all of them. At $8+ a piece, they all need to come with something!
Runner up
-Juggernaut- great sculpt, great scale and just the perfect 1/18th Jugg all around. Not super veiny, no tiny waist, no monkey arms. He doesn't really need accessories (cuz he's the Juggernaut, blip!), but the lack of the little things (removeable helmet, M'Krann crystal maybe?) is what keeps him from the #1 spot.
Worst
- Blade- Another horrible kitbash on Hasbro's part. It's even worse when they use what was a mediocre body sculpt to begin with. Give him a repugnant headsculpt and that makes Marvel's most under-used character, MU's most lame figure. At least his Wesley weapons were okay.
Runner up
- Luke Cage (modern). Suffers from the same miscalculated formula Blade does for the most part. Add a bad paintjob (what is up with MU's splotchy skin tones?!! It's like Cage, Warpath, Ultimate Cap, etc, have eczema or something!), and the lack of costume subtituted for what whomever at Marvel/Hasbro think black guys usually wear; we end up with this garbage toy.
Underrated
- All Wolverines made from the comic XMO sculpt. I love these guys. I love that someone at Hasbro remembered Logan is only 5'3 and built a small sculpt to represent that. I love they keep re-painting and re-decoing the sculpt the same great sculpt. It gives the toy's consistency and makes them all feel like the same character. Much unlike Cyclops, who has 3+ different figs all with different heights and body types.
Runner up
-Sunfire. < Yep. He's a bit beefy, but damn what an awesome figure! Never knew I was such a Sunfire fan before this fig came out.
Overrated
- Most of them. High-ups on the list include the non-XMO Wolverine sculpts, the skinny Captain Americas, the less than dynamic physique of modular (modern) Iron Man, and the WW Hulk who can't fit a single one of his accessories (armor, gauntlet, or weapons!).
Runner up
- The rest of the most of them. Archangel, every ugly Hulk, Silver Surfer (and every fig that uses that super-sinewy bodu sculpt), the Punishers, the non-poseable Hand figs, etc.
Captain America
Best
- Bucky Cap- Near Flawless. Every Hasbro super-hero fig could follow suit.
Runner up
-Crossbones- I wish he could ADS but hell, most GIJoes can't even do that.
Worst
- Target exclusive Fire and Ice Cap. Easily the worst fig of the line.
Runner up
- WW2 Comic Cap. This is also the most overrated figure. The paintjob is much worse than the SDCC version, and what is with the love for skinny MU Caps??? Since when did they lace the super-soldier serum with the trim spa formula? He's so lanky and awkward looking it's hard to notice he's wearing a modified army paratrooper uniform. He's awkward body type also hinders his own articulation.
Underrated
- Winter Soldier. I probably should've made him runner up for best. Another near-flawless JB figure, it's freakin' mind-boggling people still try to compare the MU version with him.
Runner up
- Arctic Cap- Yeah, it's a weird variant which I don't even know ever appeared in a comic. But practical, conservatively outfitted Cap's should be the goal for the "made-up" variants of this line.
Overrated
- WW2 Comic Cap. Just horrible. See above.
Runner up
- Red Skull. He looks like he suffers from MU Cap-itis. Waaay too puny for what Red Skull should be.
