Yeah, typically the company in question either throws money at them for the exclusive(and they get the pick from a list of possibilities, hence the re-used molds), or they are only chain that'll carry it when hasbro is trying to get something out to the fans. In Unicron's case, it was because retailers don't think supreme figures will sell if they aren't of prime or bumblebee, but amazon was willing to take the chance(boy aren't retailers feeling dumb about that move now!).
