Cyclops is what now?
It's been an underlying story tone in the x-men comics since the start of decimation. Referenced even farther back than that. Cyclops has got an air of mutants are superior and will do anything to keep that superiority, but also has the moral quandry of life is life unless it's trying to harm mutants.

The kill squads, and much much more. In this past issue of Uncanny X-Men he even told the mayor if she ever crossed him, he'd use mutants to just control her like a puppet. He's dancing on the line of villian and hero, mostly tipping towards villian with obscure hypocrite morals. Modern cyclops is more and more becoming the modern Magneto but keeping the X-Men name.

I really hope marvel doesn't do the reboot, but sadly I can see it coming eventually. I just wish they'd start fresh with a better editorial staff that has actually read the comics they deal with and let it show in the work, as opposed to claiming they have, and not letting it show in the work. Start fresh, not a reboot. I mean more episodic stories that build to big stories, and stop this incessant Big stories just to be big for big sales. Episodic stories give you a reason to tell your friends to pick it up, knowing they won't be lost, as opposed to telling them to buy it and have them be lost as it's the midpoint of a 20 issue major event. Then once they are hooked on the episodic stories, they may want to jump into the upcoming event that's naturally story driven into as opposed to forced. When you go big story into big story, the new reader just can't get in because they had to wait for the previous story to end, and may have missed the beginning of the next big story, or may just not be interested in it. That's my one complaint about the FF comic right now. I wanted to just jump into it and see if I liked it, but to really get it (issue 9), I had to go back and find issues 1-8. A normal new reader may just say screw that, and just not buy the title. It's a good story and interesting, but the book has been just one giant story arc with no easy breaking in point for new readers.

Not the writers mind you, I think the writers are doing as fantastic a job as they can with the constraints they've been given. Like Hickman on FF is awesome, but it feels like editorial staff is very hands off with him. Ditto to Uncanny X-Force, but there, editorial needs to step in to just point out one plot hole... Namely the Horsemen of death have a death seed/heir to apocalypse bit as opposed to using the previous Archangel apocalypse interaction in X-Force v3 to explain it. The death horseman heir to apocalypse bit means that Wolverine and Gambit are also Heirs to apocalypse since they were once horsemen of death too. Which indirectly means a new School for mutants founded by Wolverine is also founded by an heir to apocalypse. If archangel Apoc is defeated, what's stopping Gambit from waking up as a new one? They've already hinted at the gambit one in other X-Men issues, including his time in limbo.

I hope if anything, marvel doesn't reboot, and instead creates a new tangent universe and builds on that. Like the new books they are doing that add a modern spin to classic stories. Let that be a new universe for new readers that corrects the mistakes of marvel's past telling the stories with decent story-telling, but we'll see. I'm losing faith in some marvel titles, while others are perfectly fine as is. (FF, X-Force, Thunderbolts, X-Factor, and some others are perfect, X-23 is hit or miss at times with starting to have what looks like editorial created plotholes, which is really a shame since it had started going upwards on amazing so much, as well as some other plothole usages in other titles like fear itself homefront that use her, and potentially Avengers Academy, other titles getting lost in themselves are things like Avengers, Secret Avengers, Spider-Man, and some others. For X-23, I've been trying to decide on how best to approach that issue to rant about it or rationalize it, haven't decided which side I fall on yet.)

I don't mind the reuses of the Thing mold so much, but it would be nice if they'd add one more to it with the shirt. He does have a Fan4 costume that uses the shirt too, so they could get more uses out of it than just the FF costume. They've covered all his versions now but that one with the shirt in fan4 and FF flavors. Then again, two things are all I need. I wouldn't buy a shirted one and the lack of shirt makes it easier for fans to slot whichever version they like into whichever team they like. (Avengers, Fan4, FF) I just typically prefer the boots as it adds an aspect of thing trying to feel normal instead of walking around barefoot. Shirt is whatever to me because even the 'normal' looking heroes go shirtless time to time. Plus it shows off the rocky detailing really well. A sculpted in shirt for just two figures seems like a waste of a mold as opposed to the pants/diaper/shorts versions that use different parts that can be reused for others like the Rick Jones Abomb or similiar. Really from the thing mold, A-Bomb would only need a new head, and maybe new upper arms, a new chest piece too if they felt like it but not really required. The lower legs are perfect from the no boots thing. The body can go either way. Gives A-bomb a more feral appearance over the more regal leggings of wwh hulk, Thanos, and apocalypse.
