Hmm.

Looks like Hasbro and I are not on the same Wave Length - I can bare Transformers Repaints to some degree but for Gi Joe i'm looking for either new Characters or old characters in new Outfits and therefore only 1/3rd of those have any appeal to me. in general they look very like what was released for the 25th Anniversary.

As I like to play with my toys and not just have them sitting on a shelf I'm looking at the play pattern they offer.

So If I say am playing Jungle or Desert or Arctic theme then I'd be super happy to have say Duke in a Parka or Desert Snake eyes etc... so key characters are not limited to missions that only have a baring on how they are dressed (Remember Gung Ho dressed in Dress uniform for example) - I also rather like the duty Uniforms they had in the Movie so that idea opens up the possibility of characters like Barbecue, Air Tight, or Wetsuit getting a toy where they don't have to be dressed as actually in action. but can be dressed as On base instead... If the Gi Joe HQ is on base and a Arctic specialist was on rotation he'd hardly be walking about in Arctic gear in the desert. so for example that Urban Snake Eyes they made with the Urban Camo over-Trousers I thought was really cool.

But a figure they've already made in the same colour again just this time it's a bit skinny looking and has ankle rolls and an ab crunch and some movable wrists.. I don't really see the need at a must buy level for me - they instead fit into Oh I'd buy that if I tripped over it.

I'd just be getting the same again (great for new fans mind) but not so great if it's a 7 pack and there's only 2 figures in the box with real appeal.

I'd like to see more like they did before when the mission specialists were all dressed for a given environ like Arctic or Desert I totally see the worth in making characters like a Tele-Viper or SAW Viper dressed for such situations. or taking a B.A.T. and making them blend in more or making them specialised (like Doctor X's X-Robots were in Action Man).

I think making things that only appeal to people who have to have the best joints or are looking for a new version of a character they can get from the 80's is a tricky proposition if that's 'all' they do.

Besides what's the point of using an O-ring crotch with an ankle roll they are not likely to stay standing up with that combination.

It's an interesting thought though what would Gi Joe be like if it's aimed at Kids what would it be like if it's aimed at adult collectors and how different is my stated tastes from either category ?

I might say something controversial and say that the eventual Toyline for the Movie sequel might be something I might enjoy more perhaps ?
