I guess I'm the oddball here but I'm not planning on seeing any of the Star Wars films in 3D in the theaters. I prefer to wait for the Blu-Rays to hit and watch movies in my home without distraction.
However, I do disagree with much of behindthemask's post. I don't think the Blu-Ray market is as pricey as he thinks it is for the reasons outlined below:
1. 3D Blu-Ray players aren't all that pricey. I got one made by Sony earlier this year from Best Buy for just over $100. I've seen some for well under $100 recently.
2. 3D movies aren't that expensive. Thor was $25 at Wal-Mart for its 3D version. Tron Legacy was pricey at about $50, but the original film was included in the package so I didn't think the price was outrageous. And, I'll be picking up the 3D version of Captain America when it comes out at the end of the month.
3. Some of the older release Blu-Ray discs have come down in price. I've seen some of them for about $10, and recently bought a copy of Species on Blu-Ray for just over $7 off of Amazon, including shipping.
I will say that the only 3D item that's out of my reach are the TV's themselves. But they are dropping in price so I'll just wait it out for the 3D TV as I'm in no hurry to upgrade. And as a bonus my movie library is future-proofed with the 3D films when I do upgrade.
