IF that's true then it sounds like all they are doing with DCUC is rebranding it, the same way they did when DC Super Heroes ended. Back then, they could only do Batman or Superman-related figures. When they then were allowed to do all the DC characters, they changed the name, the packaging, and introduced the Collect 'n Connect.

So we KNOW --Penguin and Larfleeze DID NOT have the Club Infinite Earths logo on their placeholders. Likely does mean they will be the new retail line.

--The retail Toys R Us two-packs -- Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, Batman, and (Azrael) Batman -- all very recognizable characters.

So maybe what they are doing is rebranding again. Cutting out the Collect 'n Connect (but I bet they won't lower the price) and offering re-dos of mainstream characters. We know it'll have the new DCnU costumes. Maybe they'll just stick to figures "everyone" knows, like Penguin (and I bet/I hope we get one that looks more like the one DC Direct showed off at NYCC), Lois Lane, Jimmy Olson, maybe a Nightwing in his blue and yellow costume, JLU-style Aquaman (fish-hook hand), President Lex Luthor, and every simple repaint they can do for Blackest Night/Brightest Day and Flashpoint, etc.

They'll just shy away from the obscure stuff they went into, like the Doom Patrol and Metal Men -- they'll be in the subscription.

That means the subscription figures were chosen as follows:
Jay Garrick -- maybe they figure everyone nowadays considers Wally West to be the Flash (and I bet we'll get one in the new retail line) -- put in the subscription as "not mass marketable"
Atrocitus -- too scary for soccer moms to buy at retail stores. Doesn't give a positive image to the product line. But collectors really want him.
Starman -- so completists that plop down the $180 for the LOSH set can get an even better complete set; again not mass-marketable. I mean, even here among toy geeks -- I mean experts -- a lot of us didn't seem to know anything about this guy.
Poison Ivy -- bait. I don't remember her originally mentioned as a subscription figure. There were rumors she'd be in the sub. But after the sub failed the first time they officially added her. I'd bet she was going to be in the retail line. . .
Metron -- fan's choice of course

And the sub will be team-completers -- I'll guess The Chief, Elasti-Girl, Bumblebee, at least one more of the Metal Men, Rag Doll, etc.

That's all speculation of course. . .

But man if it goes that way. . .I'll really regret getting the sub (except for Jay Garrick and Poison Ivy) and I'll have to rethink what I was looking forward to. . .being able to save money by not having to buy DC figures!
