Personally I think as a whole Mattel has struck a good balance for the most part. But with some characters the action feature makes the figure and cannot be leftout.
Here's the thing I find hilarious with these threads:
For YEARS (and years and years and years) the collector community has perpetually railed AGAINST action features in any shape or form, regardless the brand.

Hell, the lack of action features was a big selling point IIRC for the early adopters of MOTUC

Action features, by their very nature, are intended to get a kid's interest in a toy (hell, Hasbro's even brining back AFs in the revamped Saga Legends line due next year for STar WArs), as adult collectors, that need is basically irrelevant.
Most collectors will buy the toy, pose it (maybe), put it on a wall, and never touch it.

I don't see a need for action features in that environment, and it would only serve to add to Mattel's costs for a line they aren't too big on putting money into to start with.
