Official: Mattel fined $2.3 million for toy hazard - Yahoo! News
Mattel has been fined 2.3 million dollars so far in the first suit against them for the recent recalls. Apparently it wasn't China's fault, as the ruling came down that Mattel knowingly allowed it to happen, and have received a 2.3 million dollar fine for violating a 30 year old toy law about lead levels in paint.
Huh, guess this explains why only the Mattel side of hasbro mattel manufacturing facilities were recalled. I'd always found that odd myself. One side has a perfect record the other not, the one without the perfect record blaming China QC, when yet that same factory on the hasbro end has no recalls.
Doesn't also help that there's other evidence to suggest Mattel knowingly did this even though it claims no previous knowledge. (Guess they got those shredders going during the recalls, before CEOs saw those memos?)
China QC may not be the ultimate evil the media has lead us to believe. Starting to look like it was corporate cost cutting all along, at least for Mattel. More news to come soon as the rulings come down, more evidence comes to light, and of course Mattel's Obligatory appeals against any wrong-doing in this matter.
Finally the entire truth may come out about what was going on with Mattel, or they may just pay the fine and sweep it under the rug.
What do you think of this matter? Should Mattel be held responsible for their actions? Or does the fault rest in the china QC hands?
