I've had a Droid 3 for about six months now and the only real problems I've had with it came from 3rd party apps. The battery life for any smartphone all depends on how you use it. With intense use (lots of different apps, sometimes at the same time), my phone normally goes about 3-4 hours on a full charge. With moderate use (a few apps, texting, phone calls), it lasts about 8-10 hours. With minimal use (texting/phone calls), it can last me a couple days before I have to re-charge.

Also, the type of apps you use will determine how quickly the battery is drained. Games like Angry Birds and Eternal Warriors (i.e. graphic-intensive) will use up battery power a lot faster than texting. Also, make sure to turn off your wireless if you're not using it. It will constantly search for Wi-Fi connections in the background and use up battery life for no reason.

(Btw, my above stats were while almost constantly using Wi-Fi for connectivity.)
