That's actually canon, he wielded that beast during the Civil War/War Journal area when he was wearning a cap suit. The gun came in the Punisher MU variant thingy.

I'm almost sure that gun is broken in pieces by his feat in the linky. Possibly cuz it was shot once and destroyed every gal's hymen.
