HissTank.com is proud to present a project a long time in the making -
The HissTank.com G.I. Joe Toy Database (BETA)
. This is our first attempt at trying to organize and document all the G.I. Joe and Cobra toys, vehicles and more from throughout the years.
We've started small, focusing on
25th Anniversary / Modern Era FORWARD
. This allows us to focus on filling in the entries with as much data as we can, completing entire eras/sections. We've also been doing full photo shoots of the modern figures. So
from Resolute forward - we have 98% of figures with a full-on, white-background style photo shoot
. The rest should be done soon, we just didn't want to wait any longer
. 25th Anniversary - currently they have stock photos, but will be updated with full photo shoots by HissTank staff and contributors over time.
This entire project is labeled BETA - we want to emphasize this.
There may be mistakes. We may need to add more functionality so that you guys can browse around and search easily. We may need to remove things there because you guys don't like or need it. It's all up in the air.
This is our first run, and we want your feedback
. It's not perfect, and it's not complete. But over time, between our work and your help, we can make this database strong and useful for many years to come.
Along with the new database, we've created a new forum -
The HissTank Database Community Forum
. Here, you can let us know we made a mistake, suggest new ways of doing things, post information or file card info on a figure if we don't have it for, post up photos of figures we don't have, and so on. Any and everything database discussion can go in here. If you submit info or pics, and we add it to the database entry, then we will of course credit you right on the page. If we get a lot of folks helping out like this, we will look for additional ways to reward you for your help.
After we fill in some more Modern Era stuff, and do our best to address your suggestions and concerns, we will then move on to vintage and pre-25th stuff.
There are several ways to browse around the database:
First -
you can click on line name
(25th, POC, 30th, etc). This will bring up the figures and vehicles from that entire line, in alphabetical order. It will show you a pic, and the year of the figure. Links to the top level of each "line" are at the bottom of every single database page.
Second -
you can use the "Database Indexes"
. These are hand-done text lists for each line. We separate the lists out into Joe, Cobra, Drivers, Sets, Multi-Packs, Exclusives, etc. All text, all on one page for the entire line. That way, if you know the name of what you are looking for, just jump in there and you can quickly scan for stuff. We know some folks are used to this style, and it allows us to further break down the larger lines in a different way, so we figured it was worth putting in place.
Third -
you can click on one of the "Special Searches"
style links. These are a mix of hand-done lists and search result pages. Most of these links can be found on the bottom of all pages in the navigation area, in the last column.
Fourth -
Jump in, and start clicking around.
Many things are cross-linked to each other. Sets, Vehicles/Drivers, Years, Themes, Sub Teams, and more.
So, take a look around. Check out the links below!
