What happened was Marvel made the cartoon and shopped around for a network to air it, finally nickelodeon decided to bite and go for it. When it came to the second season Marvel wanted Nickelodeon to pay up more to have it made and Nickelodeon wanted to pay the same price they paid before to air it with Marvel ponying upfront the majority animation cost(during the middle of all this Disney bought Marvel). You have to really dig to find these details though as the only thing anyone involved will say is "Financial issues" even though season 2 was greenlit. They never could agree to final price so season 2 ended up permanently on hiatus. Allegedly EMH and WatX are the same universe though, just like Hulk vs Wolverine is the same universe as them(which we may see referenced later this season in emh!).

That's interesting, even though Nickelodeon and Marvel couldn't agree on a price were there any details as to why Disney didn't want to meet Marvel's requirements? I would have imagined that Disney having just bought the rights to Marvel would be able to afford to continue the production of the show, and since it was popular and had a dedicated fanbase would have guaranteed ratings. I would also have imagined the season 2 synopsis would have brought in more viewers, having featured Deadpool and the Age of Apocalypse.

Back on topic, I'm still yet to watch USM. Will hopefully do so soon.
