(I wanted to place this in the collections forum, because I thought it was a much more appropriate forum. But apparently it's against the rules without pictures, which I don't have.)
I've recently put away all of my TF Movie toys (at least all ones that have no relevence. Keeping out those like Bludgeon), and I'm digging out my Beast Wars toys for display in their place.
I have a shelf that's six feet tall, and five shelves. I was originally going to do two shelves dedicated to every version of the cast that I have, and fill out the rest with... well... the rest.
However, I realized due to space concerns, I need to share this case with Animated, which needs three shelves. Reducing my BW options to two shelves. One for Maximals, and one for predacons.
Not a problem for the most part. Put away figures I don't like that much, like Fox Kids Waspinator (Don't have a regular Waspy), Transmetal Airazor, and BWX Optimus Primal.
However, a lot of characters with multiple toys all have extremely cool ones, that I really can't decide on, so I would like to get opinions if you guys don't mind.
So here's what I'm having trouble deciding...
Optimus Primal:
10th Anniversary Ultra
- The Ultra primal, dispite being waaaaay too oversized for the character was always a solid toy. On top of that, the newly sculpted bits Takara added knock this baby out of the ballpark. Great toy, great sculpt, and great likeness. Feels like I'm holding the cartoon.
Optimal Optimus
- I'd genuinely forgotten how impressive this toy is. He's massive, and a beautiful toy. And he looks impressive with the others, where as normal Primal sorta gets lost. However, he takes up a lot of room.
Transmetal Optimus
- Until the BWX, this was my least favorite version. The sculpt is kind of meh, and he has always had a butt ugly face. However, he's always had the best size for Primal. Large enough to be a presence, but he doesn't dwarf everyone like the other two. Plus, he takes up less the least room.
Megatron:
BWX Megatron
- One of my favorite dinosaur TFs. Great sculpt, fantastic articulation, best dinosaur mode EVER.
10th Anniversary Ultra Megatron
- Not as great a toy as the Ultra Primal mold, but the paint job and new head, like his counterpart, knocks him out of the park. But unlike Primal, he doesn't feel way too large, though. Still too big, but not as dramatically and jarringly so.
Transmetal
- This to me is the iconic form for Megs. Anytime I think of the character, I imagine him in his TM state. This was when the writing for him was it's best, too.
Transmetal 2 Megatron
- Probably my least favorite of the four. But that doesn't mean I don't love the toy. It's great. Bright red really makes him stand out, too.
Others, I'm choosing U. Dinobot over the original. Transmetal Rattrap over the first, and the original Cheetor, over TM and TM2.
So, anyone have any opinions they'd like to share?
