They killed thousands. Didn't anyone pay attention to the news reports at the end? They even show the memorial wall and people crying.

They didn't show the deaths because it was a fun superhero movie. That would have brought it down. It was clear people were dying when buildings were being destroyed and cars blown up. No need to linger on it when we're supposed to be cheering.
