It is colorful, cute, well animated, & isn't too serious. I'd say it's a great way to introduce children to superheros.

I'm not trying to blindly defend this. Is it on par with Avengers EMH? Hell no! But to have such strong feelings towards a cartoon is a bit ridiculous. You can't please everyone. Bottom line for me is. My nephew enjoys it and now his face lights up anytime he sees anything Spider-Man.
Don't be so narrow minded, of course I'm not suggesting parents should use television to solely improve a child's mindset... Don't be absurd.
Your nephew is 14 months old? Well then of course he's not going to care about pacing and character development, he's 14 months old!! What about the hundreds of other kids ranging from different age ranges who want to watch something a bit more interesting then bright colours jumping around!! The sort of children that appreciate Batman TAS, Spectacular Spider-man and Young Justice? The demographic for a cartoon like this is not 14 months old, it's significantly wider then that! The characters, the language, the action etc is more geared towards children 5-10.
And your comments have pretty much back backed up my point entirely: That this cartoon is fine for children under the age of 2, because children under the age of 2 don't care about quality. 'Cute and colourful' really? Didn't we have Super Hero squad for that?

My point was made because businesses are happy to use 'it's for kids' as an excuse for shit products, and I think that's unfair because they are basically saying that kids don't appreciate or deserve quality products. And I repeat, when I say kids I do not solely mean under twos, I mean children of all ages. You can't deny that the quality of television has dumbed down, and since children prefer to sit in front of the television then do their homework what's wrong with having a cartoon which at least has a decent story? I'm not saying it has to be educational, just written well!

And as for having strong feelings for this, can you blame us? We get given something fantastic in the form of television and it's taken away from us, and replaced with an inferior product. Excuse me for wanting something with a bit more quality. Of course you can't please everyone, but when shows like Avengers EMH and Teen Titans have got it so right and have more fans then naysayers it makes you wonder what was going through the minds of the people who made USM.
Spider-man has a fanbase ranging from children as young as your nephew to as old as my dad who is in his 60s. When you're creating something like this it has the potential to draw in viewers from all ages if it gets the direction right, eg Spectacular Spider-man. If it neglects a significant portion of the fanbase, then that portion will become vocal. That is the nature of the internet.

If you enjoy it, good for you, I wish I could. I'm glad that your nephew enjoys it, and hopefully because of this show he'll become a Marvel fan and appreciate everything else the franchise has to offer
