Ok. I'm gonna review Super Guardion now.
Super Guardion is the second (and last) support team to appear. And even then the team was not complete until Draias shows his ugly face and Fighbird requests for back-up. This set has sentimental value for me since I had Guard Star and Guard Wing when I was younger but could never complete the set.
Guard Star is the leader of the Guard Team. I dont know if you can see but the blue paint on the hood is not the same colour as the blue plastic. The stickers also differ in colour and are inferior to the japanese release. The part that flips up on the star symbol doesnt depress properly making the vehicle not as flush.
All of the Guard team apart from Guard Wing have 'back packs' that can be mounted on both robot and vehicle modes. This gives it a slightly more armed look.
Guard Rescue is the one most calm in dangerous situations. It should be pretty apparent what is wrong with Guard Rescue. Theres two different shades of blue on Guard Rescue's wing shield (unfortunately not quite as apparent in these pics).
It can also mount a back pack but on its side instead.
Guard Fire is the hot head of the team and is easy to agitate. The back of him is pretty hollow. With only the side shields covering it. Its also got diecast metal construction on the hinge at the back.
Back pack deployed.
Last but not least, Guard Wing. His first appearance is when he saves the other space police from being sacrificed to a 'dark god' by Draias. He's got a annoying personality wherein he thinks his the best and looks down upon the other members. His vehicle is a 'we need it for the combination' vehicle so as a plane, its not very convincing.
All team members.
Guard Star in robot mode. His head is really small compared to his body. He has minimal articulation. He has elbow articulation and hip articulation (to the side). You might also count his knees (for the combination) but he cant stand with his knees up. The paint on his head is abysmal. It bleeds onto his face!
Armed Mode. Its sort of like Fighbird's helmet upgrade. The gun on his backpack can be taken off as a weapon of sorts. The orange of his visor is a bit on the thin side.
Guard Rescue's robot mode is my favourite robot mode. I have no idea why. It has a head sculpt like the Ryu brothers. He has ok articulation. He has hips, shoulder and elbows.
His Armed mode head looks a bit like Ratchet's (with a visor). Special note. Guard Rescue's armed mode makes a cameo appearance in Might Gaine as a hologram in a training sim that Might Gunner goes through. This one has a mouth plate though.
Guard Fire has the most restricted robot mode. He cant split his legs apart and he has no elbow articulation.
He is also the only one not able to wield his back-pack's guns.
Guard Wing has no armed mode (he already has a visor so I guess he's already in armed mode?). He has a gun that looks like a gun. He's also got the same articulation as Guard Rescue.
Guard Team in robot mode.
This is Guardion. Guard Rescue becomes the legs, Guard Fire becomes the arms and hip and Guard Star becomes the chest and head. Its a nice looking mode. No obvious kibble. The korean version doesnt paint his neck silver (no big loss).
Technically the only weapons Guardion has are his vulcan guns on his chest (and the ladders on his shoulders which pierce straight through the enemies. They arent deployable in the toy because he has no shoulder articulation
). But since their back packs are lying there unused...
This is Super Guardion. When all of Guard Team combines. His weapon is the gun Guard Wing has but its now like really small. Its a good change from Guardion with the addition of chest armour, leg armour, wings and change of head. But the korean version paints his head black! Why did they do that? The box art even has it blue.
Well aside from the korean manufacturer's changes its a good toy. Highly recommended (especially if its the japanese version).
