Ares would never work for the Red Skull- it's just way out of character- he's a guy that goes to work for big nations and armies, acting as point in battle (as with him riding the nose of an F-18 to attack Asgard).
Kang follows NO. ONE. ever. It's his thing.

Anyway, my pics:

1. Iron Man as leader
2. Sersi for my Goddess
3. Quasar
4. Crystal
5. Thing
6. Cloak
This would be a great team with strong-willed indivuals that for the most part have not worked together before on a team- Cloak would be the key to making it special though as (with Quasar to protect the team) they could teleport anywhere on Earth and would not need a Quinjet! Quasar and Crystal bring the cosmic storylines, Sersi brings the whole "hidden history" and Celestials and Apoclypse stories, Cloak is the wide-eyed newbie to the world of big superhero events, his motivation might be Dagger gets kidnapped by some threat or she just dumps him, the Thing is the pure-hearted veteran/mentor for Cloak and brings all the FF background and their villians and Iron Man brings the tech and government savvy as well as having something to prove since he has not led anything since Secret Invasion.

Masters of Evil

1. Gorgon as leader- he's crazy badass and a nihilist to boot.
2. Salome (points if you know who this crazy evil bitch is- a former Sorcerer Supreme that Doc Strange chopped the arms and legs off of and banished. Yeah, you read that right.)
3. Piabok the Power Skrull -looking for payback on humanity and the Inhumans.
4. Alkhema- evil Ultron made robot with Mockingbird's personality (though not memories).
5. Maximus- having teetered back into evil insanity, he's the team's big brain and the motivation for Crystal's Avengers membership.
6.) Jamie Madrox- one of his duplicates caught and turned evil by Salome, and outside the original's control but with the same powers- an instant army to overwhelm the Avengers- completely uncaring if his deplicates get killed.

I'd have the Avengers assemble in response to the MoE for a change, with Iron Man choosing the best counters to the Masters- Salome and Madrox would be the unknowns to Tony when he selects the team- Madrox being the suprise ending to issue one (he wears a mask prior to the big reveal) and Salome is only known to Sersi from waaay back when they fought- which is why Sersi gets Tony to make the team in the first place.
Salome is the MoE teleporter, Alkhema and Maximus can out-tech even Tony, making him fight uphill for a change, Gorgon is the evil counterpart to the Thing and Quasar's purity.
