It's weird- it's a sorta stealth suit with the cloak from the Iron Man 2.0 armor- but I dont know how it protects the wearer- Rescue was able to tear the boot right off of it, so it may not be armor in the traditional sense but a bodysuit with shields and integrated weapons...a big departure in that regard.

Looking at the art for IM #2 (the upcoming series) it's not obvious why Greg Land designed the armor to look like the movie version- the king of cheap Photoshop tracery is useing screengrabs for his IM poses. True to form, he draws almost no backgrounds and all "his" figures are badly composited from whatever source he stole them from.
Jesus, why put this guy on Iron Man when we FINALLY get an exceptional writer?!?
Gah. The new armor is aparantly the T-1000...
