Im new to collecting and just never knew there were toy buying guidlines. You know, that is what we are all talking about at the end of the day. A toy. I figure, if it's something I want, and Im supposed to have, I will find it at a price I am willing to pay. If I am only willing to pay $10 maybe it will take me a bit longer to find than the guy who knows his area will never have said item and he is willing to $70. Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. Im not arguing against your opinion. I just think this hobby kinda makes us all lose sight of reality a bit. I guess that's the point though.

To me, scalpers are the guys at Frank & Sons. They fit the description perfectly. I don't see anything wrong with grabbing some figures and selling them on eBay to make a profit - I mean, we can actually help support our hobby with that extra cash. If I come across something of value, sure I'll grab more and try to make a few bucks. I don't see anything wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with making a profit, but there's something wrong with depriving every other collector out there of something they really want. Someone that drives to every single store within a 50 mile radius simply to grab all of something with the sole intention of reselling it at a huge markup... that's a scalper in my book. I sell stuff on eBay too, but I help out Arkers when I can as well.

I was just responding to your original question you asked and gave you a reply that what you posted was the definiton of a scalper and gave you supporting points. If I can't find something, I either wait or just give up on it. I don't get angry at the world. I need the new ML Deadpool and MU Professor X, I am not calling everyone scalpers and staying pissed off, I'll wait until I find them or find a decent price, if not oh well. I'm not a completionist so it does not bother me, but seriously you asked a question and I gave you an answer. The definiton of a scalper is a person who resells shares or tickets at a large or quick profit, which is what exactly you described.
I can understand that the manufacturers are at fault for poor distribution, but I can honestly say that there are extreme scalpers in the LA area. Out of all the hunting I've done over the past few weeks, I wasn't even able to spend more than $100 on buying stuff at retail because I couldn't find anything. Then you go look at eBay or go to Frank & Sons - you'll find a whole bunch of sellers from Los Angeles that are selling crap for outrageous prices. And that same crap is the stuff I am never able to find anywhere. If people are willing to buy it, then that's on the buyer. I can't blame the seller for the buyer's idiocy. However I can blame the seller for grabbing ever friggin' item off the pegs and leaving nothing for anyone else. There's really nothing I can do about it, though, because people will do whatever they want to do regardless of what I have to say about it. Do I feel a little better when I talk smack about scalpers? Yeah, somewhat. At least I know why I can't find something and I get to vent about it. Thankfully, I have this site to retreat to when a hunting day goes bad. There will normally be someone on here that's willing to lend a helping hand and relieve my stress.

When it comes to scalpers, it's all about $ in the end. Can I be upset about people wanting more $? Nope. Maybe I should just become a scalper lol.
