got you with the salute just think with us being, historically, closer to the nazis it has more of that negative connatation. Haven't read the story but if they are finally moving Doom back to his rightful place as the Baddest in the MU I'm all for it.

As far as not seeing it, with a penchant toward all things doom, you would be a little hard pressed to associate anything downright 'evil' with him right? so I'm just wondering if that doesn't color your view

I don't follow a lot of newer comics because most of the time they aren't making a lot of sense with stories anymore nor trying to. they give the wheel to people who grew up with comics and what to write/draw a character a certain way and then you end up with Doom working with Reed. I'm all for cooperation but if you've read Heroes Return doom worked with everybody to get home and still tried to be Doom so to speak at the end, so I don't buy it because Doom hates Richards too much to ever truly work 'with' him.

A more relevant example would be Mr Geoff Johns. I used to read the letter column in the back of comics, like I'm sure some of you may have and in at least two different cases I came across letters by a fellow by the name of Geoff Johns. One was in Superboy and the other in Flash. In his Superboy letter he suggested to the editorial team that it would be cool if it turned out Superboy's mystery DNA turn out to be from Lex Luthor, which was eventually what he retconned it to be. However it was originally Paul Westfield, leader of Cadmus. He had a similiar kind of thing in an issue of Flash that he eventually wrote into canon. I'm saying all this to say it isn't always a good thing to hand the keys to the kingdom over to just any fanboy no matter if he can solve the dilemma of Hawkman's screwy histoy. I see this in other comics like Fan 4 too which is the real connection, because it seems long gone are the days of the writer/artist who gave a crap about characterization or just making sure the costume is right
