Ok, I completely agree with your assessment here as a fan who was also under the impression that Sam Humphries' continuation of the series title was also going to be a wet works team. However, everything I've written about how I feel about the way things ended was because of the following:

Quote:
Marvel.com: You also have Storm on the team. Because this is kind of a wet works, black-ops down and dirty team, and she’s usually seen as a much more regal and noble character, how do you bring her into all this?

Sam Humphries: The wet works team was the previous incarnation of the book, and that’s not what this team is, so to have her as a part of this team makes a lot of sense from a character perspective because these are all characters that feel like misfits in a misfit world.
So as far as I'm concerned Uncanny X-Force, as we all know and love, effectively ended with issue #35. What Sam Humphries is doing is just following Marvel's orders to ride the popularity of the name Remender made popular for as long as the wave will take them before readers bow out. Seriously who wants to read about and uncanny X-Force who doesn't hold back? Not me, at least.

Here's the full interview if it interests you at all.
