It will eventually, but I estimate at least 2-3 yes before it does. While I don't particularly like what happened, I'm not as up in arms about it as most people have been, giving out death threats and all.

I mean this isn't the first time in comics a character has been killed off and replaced only to be retconned back into existence later (Ultimate Peter Parker being the only exception to the list below): Barry Allen (The Flash) was replaced with Wally West, Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) with John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner, Bruce Wayne with Dick Grayson, Steve Rogers with Buckey Barnes, (Ultimate) Peter Parker with Miles Morales.

And those are just the ones that immediately come to mind. If I recall, there are Flash fans that grew up with only Wally West Flash and hate that Barry Allen is back in the costume, and I was certainly one of the fans who loved Bucky cap and was pissed when they seemingly killed him off so soon, again, during Fear itself and have Steve Rogers carry the shield again.

Now this scenario with Spidey is definitely different in that its still his body being taken over with a major Spidey Villain who now retains all of Peter's old memories and felt all of Peter's emotional pains that led to him becoming Spiderman, however, I am interested in seeing how long it takes Aunt May and the Avengers to realize what's up since no one knows what happened and he still retains Peter's memories.

As fans we are easily pissed off when things like this happen, but we also bitch and moan that we get the same old predictable stale stories where we already know how Peter will respond to a situation. So for the next few years we get a shit load of unpredictability... before it gets retconned for the release of Amazing Spider-man the movie part 2

Its just too bad this happened to a character who has already suffered the painful Clone Saga, One More Day and One Moment in Time events that have pissed of fans enough as it is to have this hit for issue number 700. My one gripe and then I'm done is this: Superior Spider-man, based off of Avenging Spider-man 15.1, is being portrayed in standard anti-hero fashion, why? There is a already that very character in the new Scarlet Spider. One of Peter's most successful character traits was that people relate to him. Who the hell can relate to Doc Oc with the addition of Peter's memories? I sure can't. I just want to see how it plays out.
