Spade, I feel ya but I have to say it made your already cool thread that much cooler
As for your suggestion, I hear you on the other figs that could have been made but I would be fine if we got all the armors only from this movie. As for the Assemblers, give them swivel elbows and bending knees and I would have supported them to the end. Having said that, I am an Iron Man geek and bought the assemblers anyway, multiples in fact, and customized a bunch with heavy weapondry.
As for your other suggestions, Volcana, etc., I think those would be main MU line at best. This is a movie line and outside of Armor repaints which are cost effective for Hasbro I don't see much more coming our way from an IM3 line. Now IM2 had a few extras in the name of Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo as they kinda, sorta cross into the movie through the comic versions but the plethora of leftover figures from that line killed the chances of a repeat unfortunately. Iron Man 2 was a collectors dream, 18 million figures, repaints and repaints of repaints. One day we will look back at IM2 as the Golden Age of Movie Figures but for now we have Assemblers and nothing more. Looking to the other movie lines and elbows and knees are a thing of the past for most of the movie releases now.
Personally I would cough up $ to a Hasbro Kickstarter to make the little bastiches in elbow and knee glory...
